Welcome to coaching! Before embarking on this transformative experience, it’s essential to establish clear guidelines and expectations. Please take the time to fully read and understand the following agreements. Your commitment to these principles will help create a safe and empowering space for growth and exploration. If you have any questions, concerns, or feel uneasy about any of the agreements, please don’t hesitate to discuss them with me. Open communication is key to our success, and I’m here to support you every step of the way.

Policies:

  1. Confidentiality:  Sessions are confidential. Information shared within a session will not be shared with third parties (including with partners) without the client’s approval, and even then, only at the discretion of the coach.

  2. Refunds:  Payments for sessions are non-refundable. Exceptions to this policy may be granted at the sole discretion of the coach under extraordinary circumstances. It is the client’s responsibility to derive value from each session, even if certain sessions present discomfort or challenges.

  3. Rescheduling/Canceling:  Changes to scheduled sessions or requests for new bookings must be made at least 24 hours in advance to ensure that the coach’s time and schedule are respected. Submit requests for exceptions to this policy to the coach directly, who retains the discretion to grant such exceptions as deemed appropriate.

  4. Environment:  Ensure that sessions are conducted in a private and distraction-free environment, facilitating vulnerability and emotional expression. External factors such as pets and children can disrupt sessions and diminish their effectiveness. Please take necessary precautions to minimize such disruptions during each session.

  5. Abuse:  Any form of abuse in session will result in the immediate termination of the session and likely the coaching relationship. The clients will be directed to seek safety immediately and to contact an abuse hotline.

Agreements:

  1. Cool Down Period:  After each session, I recommend a 20–30 minute ‘cool down’ period. It’s natural to want to quickly resume normal activities, but taking this time allows for reflection and assimilation of the session’s insights. Consider journaling or taking notes to capture key learnings. Additionally, this cooldown period aids in regulating the nervous system, ensuring a smooth transition back to daily life. By giving yourself this time, you not only gain clarity but also allow your mind and body to reset before resuming regular activities.

  2. Exclusivity:  Avoid concurrent relationship coaches. Exceptions to this policy must be discussed during the first session. This does not apply to therapists or coaches of other specializations (e.g., productivity coach), who can effectively work concurrently; although these must be disclosed to the coach during the first session.

  3. Frequency:  Book sessions on a once-a-week or every-other-week basis. If there is a long break between sessions (month or more), then we will restart our roadmap and our goals, losing efficacy for the initial roadmap and goals.

  4. Commitment:  Agree to complete assigned action steps and homework between sessions to facilitate progress.

  5. Resources:  Seek the coach’s guidance for exploring additional resources to avoid confusion and misinformation.

  6. Authenticity:  Commit to being honest. Although it may be tempting to bring your ‘best self’, it is authenticity that will foster genuine growth and progress in coaching.

  7. Presence:  Stay engaged throughout each session, even when it’s challenging. Actively seek value and takeaways.

  8. Mindset:  Acknowledge the tendency we all have to blame others and ourselves. Embrace a growth mindset and commit to personal accountability throughout the coaching process.

  9. Learning:  Be open to receiving feedback and guidance from the coach and commit to continuous learning and improvement.

  10. Ending:  The coach acknowledges and supports the client if they wish to transition to another coach or conclude the coaching relationship. Although not binding, the coach strongly suggests a ‘closing session’ to review progress made and provide feedback on next steps.
